As the days start to get chillier around SoCal, even if it’s taken a long time, you might be trying to figure out what to do. LA is the entertainment capital of the world and with that plenty of artists from around the world decide to bring their talents and artwork here! So, here are 7 of the best places to see art in LA.

LACMA

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is currently under construction but don’t let that fool you. They are still showing beautiful exhibits in the Resnick Pavillion and BCAM. Plus, without even entering the museum you can see Levitated Mass, a floating rock waiting for you to take a picture under it, and Urban Light, the light pole fixtures that make you feel like you’re in a movie. No Strings Attached, anyone? 

Hauser & Wirth

Hauser & Wirth may be located in the heart of LA but they have art from Zurich, London, local Californians, and more! You can take a gander at the photography, paintings and sculptures. And most everything is on sale, if you’re ready to drop a pretty penny on some beautiful artwork.

The Getty Museum

Of course, The Getty may be a little difficult to access with the recent fires, but it is a must visit art museum. While the building’s architecture itself is magnificent, there is also fascinating art beyond the doors of the building. You can get a glimpse of Van Gogh, Titian and an assortment of other classic artists. If you decide to take a break or grab a snack, make sure to step outside and take in the view of LA while you’re up there. And if you want more of the Getty? The Broad

Some of the best contemporary art is inside the walls of The Broad. There’s plenty of Instagrammable moments as well, like the giant sized dining table and chairs, or the latest popular featured artwork, Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms. MOCA

Technically there are two MOCAs located in LA. There is MOCA Grand Avenue and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Both provide an astonishing amount of contemporary art, over 7000 objects. You’re bound the see some art pieces you’ll love from Barbara Kruger’s Untitled questions artwork to Larry Bell, Bill and Coco at MOCA’s Nest. 

Barnsdall Art Park

You may be thinking a park isn’t art, but this one is filled with a sculpture garden, an art gallery and of course trees for a nice relaxing atmosphere. At Barnsdall Art Park you can enjoy art and culture while taking in some Vitamin D!

Hollywood Boulevard

Yes, Hollywood Boulevard is a street with many museums, so consider this a bonus. There’s the Museum of Death, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and more. But some of the best art in LA isn’t found in museums or on a canvas or in a sculpture, its the performers. So put on a sweater if it’s cold out and walk along Hollywood Boulevard near the Highland intersection. You’ll have your pick at entertainment, from violinist, and spray paint artists, to dancers and people frozen in time. It’s definitely an adventure fitting to Los Angeles.
