Best Places To Watch The Sunset in LA

Los Angeles is beautiful all year round, but there’s nothing better than an LA summer. You can go out for dinner, go on a night hike, or be leaving a bar, but nothing finishes a night off better than watching a sunset. LA is gigantic, so of course there’s endless places to watch your summer day turn into a summer night!

Here are the best places to watch the sunset around LA:

Manhattan Beach Pier

Sweeping ocean views await you at Manhattan Beach Pier. Especially popular to photographers trying to get that perfect shot, you have countless opportunities and angles to capture the sunset.

El Matador State Beach

Every beach has its own unique beautiful sunset in LA, but El Matador State Beach is spectacular. There’s a collection of 3 cliff-foot beaches, with parking above them, so you can watch the sunset from up top in the comfort of your car, or climb down and watch from the sand with the waves crashing in front of you.

Huntington Beach

One of the best things about Huntington Beach is that you can have bonfires here! You can bring blankets, wood, and maybe even s’mores to roast while you watch the beautiful sunset along the beach.

Santa Monica Pier

Yes, this spot may be touristy, but don’t underestimate Santa Monica’s beauty! Watching the sunset next to the beautiful pier which is also filled with twinkling lights and energy of its own is totally worth it.

Perch

You can relax or perch up on this rooftop bar, while taking in the stunning views of downtown. Perch also has live music during the summer, so you can listen to the music while watching the sunset over DTLA.

The Standard

The Standard is the perfect rooftop bar to chill and listen to the DJ spin tunes while you sip on a drink! Maybe a Henessy Lemonade while you watch the sunset among the skyline of LA.

71 Above

Delicious food, great drinks and a beautiful view of all downtown LA! Being 71 floors up, it’s the perfect place for panoramic views of a summer sunset.

Elysian Park

This one may have slipped your mind, but Elysian Park is right beside Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. From one end of the park you can see one view of the sunset, but go to the other side and you’ll see a completely different view of LA. Everything from DTLA, to Dodgers Stadium, to the Hollywood Hills, you’re bound to find a sunset viewing you love.

Griffith Park

You can take a nice walk, hike or just hangout by the museum, but Griffith Park really is one of the most gorgeous spots to watch a sunset in Los Angeles. It’s a classic LA landmark that you can’t go wrong with visiting for a sunset this summer.

The Getty Center

The Getty Center is worth making a whole day out of it, go check out the museum itself and all the beauty within and once the sun starts to set, head outside to watch all of the colors unfold before your eyes.

Barnsdall Park

Head to Hollywood for this sunset spot! Pack a picnic and blanket for a cozy summer night because Barnsdall Park is the perfect spot to relax and watch the sunset.

Hilltop Park

If you’re looking for something in the heart of the LBC, look no further than Hilltop Park. Located in Signal Hill, you can see panoramic views of the LA Harbor and even the Hollywood Hills, leaving it the perfect spot in Long Beach to watch a sunset this summer!
