Top 5 Reasons To Take a Staycation in Los Angeles

Sometimes you just want to get away and sometimes you just want to “feel” like you’re getting away from it all. Luckily, LA is big enough that you can take a staycation and not be really out of Los Angeles. I took a staycation in Santa Monica and though I live only a few miles away in West LA, it felt great to stay at a nice hotel and play tourist at one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. So here’s my top 5 reasons every LA girl should take a staycation in Los Angeles!

So you don’t have to deal with the parking.

I was lucky enough to stay at the Wyndham Santa Monica at the Pier. I had a gorgeous view of the beach and within walking distance of the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica Place and the Promenade. Since I was staying at the hotel, I was able to walk around everywhere without dealing with the parking. The hotel also has bikes available to use during your stay, so you can cruise around town or the Strand!

Because you can bring your furry friend.

The Wyndham Santa Monica is a pet-friendly hotel and you don’t have to worry about getting a sitter or boarding your furry BFF. Take them with and they’ll love to hang out at the beach or go shopping with you!

To eat the delicious, local food.

LA is already known for their amazing food, so there’s no need to go elsewhere. The restaurant at the Wyndham Santa Monica serves farm to table food with fresh, local ingredients. If you’re looking to try other spots, there are lots of restaurants across the street at the mall and around the Promenade.

So you can go home if you need to.

I decided to go for a hike on Saturday morning and forgot my hiking boots at home. Fortunately, I lived only a few minutes away and I was able to go get them before the hike. On the Westside, one of the most popular trails is the Mishe Mokwa trail that goes up to Sandstone Peak. This is a great hike that will take you to the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains with gorgeous views of the ocean and surrounding hills.

To experience the same thing in a different way.

I go to Santa Monica all the time, but by staying there it made me appreciate it even more. I didn’t worry so much about the traffic, parking and avoiding tourists that it was a much more enjoyable experience than just going there for a few hours.

Staycation Los Angeles

I highly recommend staying at the Wyndham Santa Monica if you plan a staycation in that area. The service is impeccable (shoutout to Eddie, the bellman) and the front desk staff is very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again! Other staycation spots in LA that I recommend include Downtown, Hollywood, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, and pretty much any city in the greater Los Angeles area. There are always great deals on Groupon or Amazon Local to look out for and it’s just great to get away for a while, even if it’s not too far away!
